Privacy Policy
Effective date: 28 June 2026 · Last updated: 28 June 2026
.chabi ("the app", "we", "our") is a personal inventory app for managing household moves. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and who can access it. The short version: your data lives on your device and in your iCloud account. We have no servers, no accounts, and no visibility into your data.
1. Data we collect — none
.chabi does not collect, transmit, or store any data on servers we operate. There are no user accounts, no analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, and no crash-reporting services integrated into the app.
2. Data stored on your device and iCloud
Everything you enter into .chabi — box details, item names, notes, photos, and settings — is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework and optionally synchronised to your personal iCloud account via CloudKit.
- Local storage: data is kept in the app's private sandbox on your device. It is deleted when you uninstall the app.
- iCloud (CloudKit): if you are signed in to iCloud, data syncs to your private CloudKit database under your Apple ID. Apple's privacy policy governs this storage. We have no access to your iCloud data.
- Photos: photos you attach to items are compressed (max 800 px, JPEG) and stored as CloudKit assets inside your private iCloud database. They are not shared to third parties.
3. iCloud sharing (optional)
.chabi includes an optional feature that lets you share your move inventory with other people (for example, family members) using Apple's CloudKit sharing. If you choose to share:
- You generate a share link via Apple's native UICloudSharingController.
- People you invite gain read and write access to your inventory data through their own iCloud accounts.
- Shared data remains hosted in Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. We have no access to it.
- You can revoke access at any time from within the app (Settings → Sharing → Stop Sharing) or from iCloud.com.
4. Camera and photo library
The app requests access to your camera and photo library solely to let you photograph box contents. Images are processed on-device (resized and compressed) and stored only in your local app storage and iCloud, as described above. We do not upload your photos to any third-party service.
5. Export backups
The app can export a JSON backup file containing all your boxes, items, and photo data. This file is created locally on your device. If you choose to share it (via AirDrop, email, or Files), you are responsible for where it goes. We have no involvement in or access to exported files.
6. Third-party services
The only external service the app interacts with is Apple's iCloud / CloudKit for sync and sharing. No other third-party SDKs, analytics services, or advertising platforms are embedded in the app.

7. Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Because we collect no data at all, this is not a practical concern, but we state it for completeness.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
