Getting started
How do I add a box?
Open the Boxes tab and tap the + button. Give the box a number (auto-filled), a label, and a room. You can also add dimensions, a transport tag ("Truck", "My car"), and mark it as fragile.
How do I add items to a box?
Open a box and tap Add Item. Enter a name, choose a size category, and take or pick photos of the contents before you seal it.
How do I search for something?
Use the Search tab. Type any word — item name, notes, box label, or room. Results show the item and the exact box it's in.
QR codes
How do I generate a QR label?
Open a box and tap the QR Code button in the toolbar. You can share the image (AirDrop, print, save to Photos) to stick on the outside of the box.
How do I scan a QR code?
In the Boxes tab, tap the Scan button (viewfinder icon). Point the camera at a box's QR label — the app opens that box automatically.
Sharing and sync
Do I need an account?
No. .chabi uses your existing iCloud account for sync and sharing — nothing else to sign up for. The app works offline too; changes sync when you're back online.
Where is my data stored?
Everything is stored on your device and, if you're signed into iCloud, synced to your private iCloud account. We have no servers and no access to your data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I share with family?
Go to Settings → Sharing → Invite People. This uses Apple's iCloud sharing — people you invite get read and write access to your inventory through their own iCloud accounts. You can remove access at any time from the same screen.
Backup and export
How do I back up my data?
Go to Settings → Export & Import → Export Backup. This creates a JSON file with all your boxes, items, and photos. Share it to Files, AirDrop it to another device, or email it to yourself.
How do I restore from a backup?
Go to Settings → Export & Import → Import Backup and pick the JSON file. The app merges the backup into your current data — boxes whose number already exists are skipped, so it's safe to import more than once.
